General information about the property:
Are you looking for the ultimate and unique adventure in the Barents Sea, the absolute highlight of Nordic sea fishing with a fishing rod? Then Gjesvær, at the northernmost mainland point in Europe - the North Cape on the Barents Sea - is the place for you. We are proud to present you the destination with 3 properties.
"Edelh-Polar-1"is located at the northernmost latitude that our company currently has on offer. The fully equipped and renovated apartment with 100 m² of living space is located on the ground floor and 1st floor of a typical local fisherman's house directly on the harbor / jetty facing south, with a separate entrance. Downstairs, on the first floor of the house, is the vacation apartment 'Edehls Polar 2' for 4 people, also with its own entrance.
In front of the property on the quay there is a large jetty with moorings for the local fishing boats and a floating bridge, where the boats are also moored. On the water side below the house there is a covered fish cleaning area. You can use the barbecue house on the jetty for an evening get-together or watch the midnight sun from the terrace and, with luck, the Northern Lights (aurora borealis). From the terrace and the shore area, or from the barbecue hut, there is a magnificent view of the Arctic Sea and the nearby bird cliff 'Gjesværstappan'. The clear air and the green areas with delicate grasses make the immediate surroundings a paradise in summer, at the time of the midnight sun.

The beds are already made up with good bed linen on your arrival, for your stay there are nice hand and shower towels. Bed linen, towels, final cleaning, electricity, water and internet use are included in the rental price.
1 kitchen with fitted kitchen, dishwasher, extractor, oven hob, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, large fridge, fully equipped kitchen, TV and DVD, small stereo system,
1 large living-dining area: high-speed WiFi Internet (included), living area, dining area with 6 chairs, parquet wood floors, etc.
From the entrance there is access to the large south-facing terrace with garden furniture and views towards the harbor and the bird cliff.
In front of the building there is a newly built utility room for floatation suits, fishing tackle etc., there is also a large freezer, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer for shared use with the other guests.
Outside:
Holiday apartment with sea view, terrace area, boat mooring and car parking spaces directly at the property in front of the quay, fish cleaning area.
The great barbecue hut on the quay is always at your disposal and you can enjoy life with your friends with self-caught fish or a cup of coffee around the campfire in a familiar and friendly atmosphere.
Arrival and final cleaning, additional costs:
This property has free changeover days.
Moving in: 15.00 -20.00 h, moving out: until 11.00 h or by arrangement with the owner.
Additional costs:
The thorough final cleaning, electricity, water, bed linen, towels, internet are included in the price.
Deposit:
The deposit is 350 euros on arrival and must be paid directly to the owner on site.
House specific guidelines:
Pets are not allowed. The house can be used all year round, in the winter months only on request.
Boats are not included in this property price and must be ordered separately from us for the property. You can find them on our homepage under the button 'Boats', then select 'Skager 660 Gjesvaer 1' and book them with the property. Packed lunches or king crab lunches are not included in the price and must be settled on site if used.
Fishing and activities:
The owner family has been traditionally connected with fishing for generations and almost forever and would like to share the history and life in the far north with you in a natural and peaceful environment. Gjesvær is the ideal base for fishing, with arguably the best fishing grounds in the world just a short distance away. We ourselves were inspired and won over by the incredible expanses of the Arctic landscape, the location and the beautiful accommodation on a recent visit.
What to expect
Gjesvær is a village of 120 souls with a good infrastructure by Arctic standards, truly at the end of the world in northernmost Norway, another 230 km north of Alta. Gjesvaer offers indescribably beautiful mountains and valleys, whether in summer or winter. Quaint little fishing villages lie hidden in the fjords like in the old days, the unique bird life around - and on the world-famous bird cliff 'Gjesværstappan' is world-famous. There is also breathtaking sea fishing for magnificent specimens such as large cod, redfish, haddock, turbot, halibut and more. In Gjesvær you will find fantastic and magnificent nature, organized bird safaris, fishing trips, catering and accommodation.
Or order a king crab meal from Edehl or Nora, which can be prepared especially for you downstairs in 'Olaibua'. There is also a liquor license for alcoholic drinks here.
Would you like to order a packed lunch for your excursions at sea? No problem, everything is possible at 'Olaibua'. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to take part in a real Nordic festival, which takes place at 'Oleibua' from time to time in summer. The Norsemen are extremely hospitable and are sure to enjoy a nice chat.
Shopping and leisure facilities are located directly in Gjesvær, a gas station is in the next village (33 KM). For diesel boats, fuel is provided at the property for a fee.
The North Cape, the famous metal ball at the northernmost point of Europe, is only 37 km away. In summer, thousands of reindeer frolic on the green spaces and in the surrounding area.
Travel options from Germany via Oslo to Gjesvær:
Dear guests, it is of course also possible to travel by car from Germany.
There are several direct daily flights from Germany, for example via Stockholm etc. to Oslo and on to Alta or Lakselv.
You must book flights privately, come2norway does not arrange flights.
From Lakselv and from Alta to Honningsvåg there is a bus line that runs twice a day from Monday to Thursday:

What we recommend:
If you prefer not to travel with your own vehicle, we recommend the flight connection with SAS or Norwegian from Germany. Destination airport is always Oslo. If you would like to book a flight, please contact a travel agency or book directly on the SAS or Norwegian website. From there, you can continue either with SAS, Norwegian or Wideroe to Alta or Lakselv. In order to be as independent as possible, we recommend that you pre-book a suitable rental car in Norway. From Alta it is only a 3-hour drive to your vacation destination.
