Surrounded by majestic mountains and the world-famous bird cliff Gjesværstappan, a unique nature experience awaits you. Fish successfully for large cod, redfish, haddock, wolffish and halibut.
Are you looking for the ultimate and unique adventure in the Barents Sea, the absolute highlight of Nordic sea fishing with a fishing rod?
Then you have come to the right place in Gjesvær, at the northernmost point of mainland Europe - at the North Cape on the Barents Sea. We are pleased to present you this unique destination with 3 properties.
Edelh Polar 2 is located on the northernmost latitude that our company currently has on offer. The fully equipped apartment with 50 m² of living space is on the ground floor of a typical local fisherman's house directly on the harbor / jetty facing south, with a separate entrance. Upstairs, on the ground floor and first floor, is the Edelhs Polar 1 holiday apartment for 6 people, also with its own entrance. In front of the property on the quay there is a large jetty with moorings for the local fishing boats and a floating bridge where the boats are also moored. On the water side below the house there is a covered fish cleaning area. For example, you can use a grill house on the jetty for a sociable evening get-together or watch the midnight sun from the terrace and, with a bit of luck, the northern lights (Aurora borealis). From the terrace and the shore, or from the barbecue hut, there is a wonderful view of the Arctic Sea and the nearby bird cliff Gjesværstappan. The clear air and the green areas with tender grasses make the immediate surroundings a paradise in summer, at the time of the midnight sun.

1 travel cot/high chair can be provided.
The beds are made up with good bed linen when you arrive, and hand and bath towels are provided for your stay. Bed linen, towels, final cleaning, electricity, water and internet use are included in the rental price.
1 kitchen area with fitted kitchen (will be newly installed at the start of the rental period), dishwasher, extractor hood, oven + hob, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, large fridge-freezer, the kitchen is fully equipped.
1 living-dining area: WiFi Internet (included), living area, dining group with 4 chairs, parquet floors, etc.
Outside:
Holiday apartment with sea view, terrace, boat mooring and parking spaces directly at the property in front of the quay, fish cleaning area.
The great barbecue hut on the quay is always at your disposal and you can enjoy life with your friends with self-caught fish or a cup of coffee by the campfire in a familiar and friendly atmosphere.
In front of the building there is a newly built utility room for floating suits, fishing equipment, etc. There is also a large freezer, as well as a washing machine and a tumble dryer for shared use with the other guests.
Extra costs:
The thorough final cleaning, electricity, water, bed linen, towels, internet
are included in the price.
Deposit:
The deposit is 350 euros upon arrival and must be paid directly to the owner on site.
House-specific guidelines:
Pets are not allowed. The house can be used all year round, in the winter months only on request.
Boats are not included in this property price and must be ordered separately from us for the property. You can find these on our homepage under the Boats button, then select e.g. Skager 660 Gjesvaer 1 and book it for the property.
Packed lunches or king crab meals are not included in the price and must be paid for on site if required.
Fishing and Activities:
The family that runs the farm has been traditionally involved in fishing for generations and almost forever and wants to share the history and life in the far north with you in a natural and peaceful environment. Gjesvær is the ideal starting point for fishing, with arguably the best fishing grounds in the world within easy reach. We ourselves were inspired and convinced by the incredible expanse of the Arctic landscape, the location and the beautiful accommodation during a recent visit.
What awaits you?
Gjesvær is a village of 120 people with good infrastructure for arctic conditions, really at the end of the world in the northernmost part of Norway, 230 km north of Alta. Gjesvaer offers indescribably beautiful mountains and valleys, whether in summer or winter. Quaint little fishing villages like in the old days are hidden in the fjords, the unique bird life around - and on - the world-famous bird cliff Gjesværstappan is world famous. In addition, there is breathtaking sea fishing for magnificent specimens such as large cod, redfish, haddock, wolffish, halibut and co. In Gjesvær you can experience fantastic and magnificent nature, organized bird safaris, fishing tours, catering and overnight accommodation.
Or order a king crab meal from Edelh or Nora to fill you up, which can be prepared especially for you down at Olaibua. There is also a license to serve alcoholic beverages here.
Would you like to order a packed lunch for your trips at sea? No problem, everything is possible at Olaibua. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to take part in a real Nordic festival, which takes place every now and then in the summer at Oleibua. The Norsemen are extremely hospitable and will certainly be happy to have a nice chat.
Shopping and leisure facilities are located directly in Gjesvær, a petrol station is in the next village (33 KM). For diesel boats, fuel is provided at the property for a fee.
It is only 37 km to the North Cape, the famous metal ball at the northernmost point of Europe. In summer, thousands of reindeer roam the green areas and the surrounding area.
Travel options from Germany via Oslo to Gjesvær:
Dear guests, of course it is also possible to arrive with your own vehicle from Germany.
There are several direct flights from Germany every day, for example via Stockholm etc. to Oslo and then on to Alta or Lakselv.
You must book flights privately; come2norway does not arrange flights.
From Lakselv and from Alta to Honningsvåg there is a bus line that runs twice a day from Monday to Thursday:

There is also the option to rent a car at the airport in Alta. You can find more information on the airlines' websites. There are also rental cars at the airport in Lakselv. The owners are happy to help you transport people and luggage from Honningsvåg to Gjesvær.
What we recommend:
If you don't want to travel by car, we recommend flying with SAS or Norwegian from Germany. The destination airport is always Oslo. If you would like to book a flight, please contact a travel agent or book directly on the SAS or Norwegian website. From there, you can continue with either SAS, Norwegian or Wideroe to Alta or Lakselv. To be as independent as possible, we recommend that you pre-book a suitable rental car in Norway. From Alta, it is only a 3-hour drive to your holiday destination.
